The EpidA was evaluated in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. Many elements that serve to prevent and contain the disease worked well – but gaps in the law were also identified. The EpidA therefore needs to be revised with regard to further pandemics and other health threats. Points that have proven their worth must be strengthened. The Swiss government opened the consultation on the draft revision of the EpidA in November 2023.

The NRP 80 research group “Swiss Pandemic Governance” is investigating the efficiency and legitimacy of crisis governance in Switzerland and has set itself the goal of formulating concrete proposals for improvement. This workshop will set the course for this. The aim of this event is to discuss the draft from a legal, technical and legislative perspective. The workshop will also serve as a sounding board for a consultation response from the research group.

The event is organized by the Institute of Federalism of the University of Fribourg, in cooperation with NRP 80, as well as the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH), the Conference of Cantonal Health Directors (GDK) and the Conference of Cantonal Governments (KdK).

During the workshop, keynotes and a panel will be held in French and German (without translation). The participation to the workshop is free and open to the general public. You can participate in person or online and must register via the website of the Federalism Institute.
