In December 2024, the NRP 80 kicks-off its own blog series on the social science platform ‘DeFacto’. This new format aims to provide interested parties with insights into the programme’s research work.
Remembering, forgetting, whitewashing, and tabooing
The first journalistic blog post explores the procedure for collecting qualitative research data in interviews or workshops. This poses various challenges for the researchers: Do the interviewees remember correctly? Have they forgotten something? Have they added something that never happened? Will a young person admit that they did not comply with a ban? Science writer Simon Koechlin investigated these questions and discussed them with the research projects ‘Intergenerational cohesion’, ‘The Covid generation’, ‘Urban spaces for young people’ and ‘Loneliness prevention’.
